Trevor + Allie Engagment

Thursday October 3 was the best day of my life. About a week and a half ago I bought a plane ticket on a whim, because I knew I couldn't wait a whole 6 weeks to see Trevor. I was planning on surprising him, but it ended up not working out. Anyway, about a week ago my best friend Ashley (who set Trev and I up) asked me if I wanted to go to a wedding as soon as she picked me up from the airport. She told me it was a really formal wedding, so I had to "wear my finest threads". I was only semi-excited about the event because I knew I wouldn't get to see Trevor until the next day since he had a big test to study for. Or so I thought. There were multiple times throughout the week when I suspected Trev would propose, but then Ashley sent me a picture of the invitation in response to me asking "what time does the wedding end, and who is getting married again?" I knew the invitation looked too legit to be fake...plus I didn't think Ashley and Trevor were clever enough to make a mock invite, but just to make certain it was a real wedding I looked up the people who were getting married. The first one was unsearchable on Facebook, but the second one proved worthy of a bride.( Haha I am the worst at trying to spoil surprises!) Fast forward to 7:50 pm when my plane landed in SLC. Ashley was there to pick me up and I called her as I was coming down to bag claim thinking (hoping) Trevor would be by her side to surprise me at the airport. When he wasn't there I was pretty let down, but tried not to let it show. We drove about 15 minutes and Ashley told me we had to stop by her in-law's house to pick up the wedding gift since her mother in-law had to wrap  it real quick. This house also happens to be the one I lived at all summer while interning at Nordy's. We kept driving and I was wondering if maybe, just maybe, Trevor was waiting for me there. When we finally reached the house I saw some lights on a fake plant inside and asked "is April already decorating for Christmas??" Ashley said "no just Halloween" Then I saw candles on the table through the window- I knew at that point what was happening. I don't know why, but I got super nervous/excited. When Ashley opened the front door I saw white rose petals on the ground and more candles/lights. Then the song "Marry You" by Bruno Mars started playing and I saw Trev standing outside on the balcony looking real handsome. I ran over to him and gave him a hug and kiss. Once I stepped outside, I saw all of my friends lined up with their phones in hand. Trev said "Come here! I have something to ask you!" Then he got down on one knee and popped the big question, just like that- on that very balcony where we were set up on our first (pseudo-blind) date, where we had our first kiss, and where we spent long nights eating s'mores and chatting each other's ears off. I didn't cry, or cover my mouth in excitement, I didn't even speak for about 15 minutes after it happened. I think I was just so shocked. It felt very surreal. I'm not very good at showing emotion as it is, but I was and am so so so happy. That night we drove back to Provo and I slept at my friend's apt, I couldn't fall asleep until 4 am so I waited up excitedly and watched the snow fall outside the window. Yes, it was snowing, hard to believe when it's a sweltering 90 degress back in Texas. Anyway, there is no one better for me than that sweet Trevor Jensen. On Monday we will call the temple and reserve the date May 23, 2014 to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Houston, TX temple. We are beyond excited and can't wait to share more memories together!

In the mean time, my parents are cruising the Caribbean (as usual) so they'll hear the details in about 24 hours or so. Haha.
